Tango de Coté

Gerardo Agnese: bandoneon

Camilo Córdoba: Guitar

+ guest musicians

"In the beginning, Tango was a bold and brazen genre present in the streets, cabarets and brothels of Buenos Aires. In those days, those interested in this music had to do so cautiously to protect their reputations. The French expression "de côté" came to be used in lunfardo porteño (Buenos Aires slang) as a synonym for "to do secretly" or "without attracting attention".

The band chose this name in reference to the time when playing Tango was an irreverent, unspoilt, rebellious act, and attempts to depict this style in its most original state."

"Tango De Côté" combines an acoustic sound with a tenacious "canyengue" rhythm, traversing the tango genre from its "guardia vieja" beginnings to the new era of contemporary tango.

Their repertoire of tangos, waltzes, milongas and Argentine folk music has been specially arranged for dancing and listening events.
